Should I get a portfolio case leather flip style or silicone case for my iPod touch?

I use my ipod touch on the train during my journey at school, walking and during free periods at school. I care especially in my messenger bag for school bag Hand on weekends, and sometimes a pocket, but it is mostly confined to a certain type of bag so I need to protect it. Get it right. It's got a sort of fitting on the coil itself, but I do not understand! I tried their website. Good old Argos carton empty, without instructions.
