I'll have to admit I never really liked the role play. I mean, just Full Blown Games RPG RPG and not merged with another kind. But I loved Mario. I grew up on him and nothing with his name written on it was a safe buy. Commercials about his move into the RPG genre does interest me, but to be honest, I hesitated to check the game. After receiving the recommendations of my classmates primary school, I bit. And let me tell you – I'm glad I did. The depth of an RPG and the Mario style are captured in this game.
As stated (and emphasized by the title), there is a role play. I guess you can call that an adventure game too, as it feels like an adventure for me. The role playing elements are all there – experience points, learning skills, money, health points, magic (represented by dots of flowers in the game), among many others. The conversation usually in the box also appears, and you can buy items and sleeping in hostels as well.
In this game, you should begin by Mario himself. But as you go, you win four other characters. Purple is a frog who you meet, after losing a coin frog (separate currency) a tyrant named Croco (but you beat him and get him back). Croco reappears later in the game, but of course you beat him again. Geno is a doll that is possessed after the seven stars (the main objective in this game). But two others you may know very well. Bowser himself teamed with you in this game after the main enemy in this game, a bearded man named Smithy, took over his castle. And Princess Toadstool, always the lady in distress, joins your group as well after you save him from a guy who thinks it was his fiancee sent from above.
Like most role-playing, this game is not all that simple. And this is what he is doing a lot of fun. You must attend to many much to obtain necessities such as driving a mine cart, cascading, playing tunes by jumping frogs, among many others. You have also come back to places you've to get some things to progress further in the game.
As indicated previously, it is a currency system in the game but of course this is Mario, so the money must be coins! You get coins by battles, by some good deeds, or playing some mini-games. Of course, you use this money to buy many things, such as health items, armor, weapons, and nights at the inn. A separate currency in the game is part of the frog, where you can buy some items are very rare in some places. This objects are rare in circulation, and if you can get your hands on them, one can really deal some damage.
This will be continued in the second party.
