How can you open a double x brace keyboard stand?

I bought my first heavy-duty stand level 2 keyboard, but I can not even not open in this damn position X! It came folded, but I do not know if I should be unbolting things or not. There are a handful in T the center of the cross section of "pull" written on it, but on the other side looks like a permanent (?) Rivet pull so if any more I could thread the screw handle is attached. Am I missing something simple here? Auditions for the band are like the corner (not really), but I really need to beat a whole Lots of people in order for me to join the band next level (they are really good). I know for an audition you need to know your balance .. I can not your color .. .. I know by heart .. but you also need a good audition song that shows what you can do. I have no idea what song choice. I need one that will blow my band directors immediately. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
